Small glass house extension by AABE architects

This small garden building in Belgium has been transformed into a house by a modern minimalist glass extension. The architects have retained much of the original materials in the new house, but have inserted a new steel finished mezzanine level, staircase and bath. The result is an inspiring project illustrating the potential of a very limited space.

Casa no Geres by CORREIA/RAGAZZI Arquitectos

This house is a reconstruction of a rural ruin into a new weekend retreat, within the Cavado River and its tributary. The small plot is located in a protected natural area, so the new building could not exceed the dimensions of the existing ruin and trees had to be preserved. The house takes the form of a large cantelever with a ply interior and concrete finishes externally.

Juvet Landscape Hotel by Jensen & Skodvin Arkitektkontor

Juvet Landscape Hotel by Jensen & Skodvin Arkitektkontor
A beautiful composition of a restrained, delicate insertion of modern architecture into a site of outstanding natural beauty. The full height frameless windows enable sweeping panoramic views, and intimacy with the surrounding environment; whilst the small columns create a sense of a delicate contact to the site - these building are almost hovering out of respect for its natural beauty.

Steel Lady House par Chae-Pereira

Steel Lady House par Chae-Pereira
The interior spaces of this house in Seoul are created by excavated volumes; the kitchen, dining and living rooms are interlocking, forming a sequence of views and body positions.
The interior of the house is far from monolithic. Indeed, much of it is interlaced and connected through surprising angles.
The house may be a block of steel, but it is a “lady” nonetheless.
